DMEXCO

Concept for the 2018 activation for JustPremium at DMEXCO

DMEXCO is an annual trade show in Cologne, Germany which showcases companies from the advertising and marketing industries. Industry juggernauts like Facebook, Spotify, Adobe and Google build amazing booths to promote their latest causes and ultimately gain new clients.

JustPremium has attended the show four years in a row (2016–2019) and I have worked on JustPremium’s offering for three years. Each year, taking on more of the process and scope of the project. 2019 peaked in terms of our pressence and subsequent years (under the GumGum name) we scaled down significantly due to the event’s declining popularity.

  • Booth Designs Layout, furniture positioning and final artwork
  • Branded Giveaways Stainless steel water bottles, custom wrappers for chocolate wrappers, tote bags and more
  • Promotional Material Sales sheets, flyers, and videos.

2018

Originally, the idea was to make an art gallery. Highlighting the creativity of our formats and ad designs. Selling the idea that we make an ad look like art.

Ultimately this idea was tabled for various reasons, leading to The Wall concept you see below.

Standing at 5m tall, and 16m wide, The Wall was a giant billboard that could be seen from the other side of the venue.

2019

For 2019 we decided to use the big wall approach again due to its success, though opting for a slightly smaller wall/booth. The previous year was a little too intimidating when standing next to it and the construction and safety meant the 5m wall was too difficult and costly to secure. The branding focused around JustPremium’s latest initiative, We Love Better Ads.

A fun tie-in with the We Love Better Ads campaign involved a custom message on all the employees attending the event.

Due to a declining event popularity, GumGum decided to forgo a booth space, instead sponsoring a very popular after party.
